ABOUT THE PROJECT
Yellow Cowries had a genuinely good mission. Educating people on financial choices and opening up access to financial planning that leads to real freedom. But the brand hadn't caught up to that vision yet. The idea lived far more clearly in the founder's head than it did anywhere a customer could actually see it. Turning that vision into something people could recognize, trust, and engage with meant starting from scratch.
We ran working sessions with the founder to pull that vision out and pin it down, then tried out several logo and identity directions until one captured it fully. What came out the other side wasn't just a logo. It was a brand confident enough to speak for itself, wherever a customer came across it.

CHALLENGES
Yellow Cowries also had a harder audience problem to solve than most financial brands. It needed to speak to two very different groups at once. Everyday people just starting to think about financial planning, who could be put off by anything that felt too corporate or intimidating, and the more experienced stakeholders who needed to see it as legitimate. Lean too far toward friendly, and it risks looking unserious. Lean too far toward polished, and it risks losing the exact people the brand exists to help.
We paid as much attention to the tone of the words as to the visuals: plain, encouraging language paired with a logo confident enough to feel credible. That way, the brand welcomed newcomers to financial planning without ever looking like it didn't belong in a serious conversation about money.
