Branding
Making a lending brand feel less like lending and more like a buddy.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
Buddie launched with an unusually specific ambition: to become a leading non-bank lending company while still refusing to feel like a typical lending company. Built from within Credit Direct, it needed its own name, visual identity, and personality, distinct enough to stand on its own while still carrying the credibility of the established brand behind it.
The brief was direct: more than a lending company, driven by a clear purpose and unified in how it shows up for everyone who interacts with it. We built the identity around that idea of connection rather than transaction, with a continuous infinity mark, warm layered colors, and a rounded lowercase wordmark that feels approachable rather than corporate. The “By Credit Direct” endorsement keeps the connection to the parent brand without taking over the identity.

CHALLENGES
The hardest part was making Buddie feel different from Credit Direct without losing the trust that comes with being backed by it. It needed a younger, more everyday tone while still sounding credible enough for a brand handling people’s money.
We solved that with a full identity system designed for real-world use, from digital placements and printed materials to physical signage. The guidelines define how the mark behaves across different scales and applications, including exterior signage and dimensional lettering, so Buddie feels consistent wherever people encounter it.

SUMMARY
Buddie now has an identity built to carry the brand's ambition: warm and human enough to feel like more than a lending company, but disciplined enough to scale consistently as it grows. The infinity mark gives the brand a distinctive visual signature while reflecting the ongoing connection Buddie wants to build with its customer
The result is a brand that can stand confidently on its own while still benefiting from Credit Direct's credibility. It gives Buddie a clear personality and a visual system built for where the brand is going, not just where it started.
